The
weekend
I think I’m fighting with confusion here. Over the course of the weekend I began to check out porn sites, I hadn’t in awhile, I used to always leech off a friend of mine so I suspect I still have a sizable collection of images and stories. I’m sure I have a ton of porn on many, many dozen, of unlabeled black floppies. So I guess you can dig the importance to me. I like porn, I liked it when I was kid and I’d steal it from the little seedy corner shops, or when I found an old mag in the alley as a child. I still vividly remember the first penthouse letters, when I was a sophomore in high school. I carried it in my backpack for about six months, I suspect I had to re-staple the pages together, over and over again. It was a few years , maybe in my late teens before I turned twenty that I was able to experience my first video. Of course I’d stay up at night, trying to decipher the lines of early cable channels like Spectrum and On Tv-if any of you remember them! So I have one thing to say now…..Porn has gotten lame. The pictures are just that pictures, at best they frustrate, sometimes they are interesting and other times, they are just plain gross. In a weekend of porn cruising online, I’ve learned that the porn pecking order is Amateur, teen, asian and just disgusting, soon to be replaced with animal sex, unless you already consider that disgusting. Personally I like a small subset of amateur, I dub it wholesome comfortable. Wholesome comfortable porn has two good qualities about it, the women are nice, pretty girls and they look comfortable, not forced or drugged or edgy in the shots. I guess they come off as naturally as you could expect someone naked, being photographed to be. The rest is interestingly and even sexually tingling if but only in that curious elephant man kinda way. I think amateur has become so big, because as an old roomie of mine once said “I like to masturbate to women I could actually imagine being with”. I understand that, the suspension of disbelief surely applies to porn as well right? Sure…we like to be excited with new stuff at first, just looking at naked beautiful women is cool, but after awhile, we’ve seen them. Those are our playboy years. We progress on to kinkier though and these are our penthouse years. When we get older, our fantasies of perfect vaselined lensed, in front of a mint condition 1936 fire engine red chevy convertible babes, as well as hot two chick action becomes common place. With every issue of our more popular established magazines like Playboy and Hustler and Penthouse, we –who are not getting laid- become a bit more desentizized. Suddenly we’re all subsecting into more diverse groups: Legs, Horny housewives, Teen babes, The Girl next door, Hot three way action, Penetration. The titles are all diverse and sexually numbing, however you like it you can find a new issue every month, or join a site which will drown you in whatever kink you need or want to get off. The same goes for stories. Whatever you want is out there, albeit I must say that erotic stories have become so lame that surely it’s just not me is it? They just seem amateur and not well written. No longer interesting, but this is probably just desentiziation right? I’m not so sure, I like some stories but most do not interest me. I like voyeuristic stories, but I never read good ones anymore, I like stories of sons seducing mothers, but those are technically called incest stories so regardless of my titillation, deriving any stimulation, fantasy or otherwise are not deemed cool. Now videos, most agree, still excite, even me…They are as vibrant as they come, online we’re see a revolution, where as they like to explain now, that sex movies drove the VCR boom. So now online sex sells, pictures and stories are staples but the big thing now is streaming feeds, real live sex online. You can make your requests, watch the response, it’s very roman and exciting right? Unlike our European counterparts, where sex is seemingly a comfortable topic and dealt with better, as Americans we seem oddly immature, to the point that we don’t know how to deal with our sexual desire, much less those of our children. I don’t know if I’m leading in to something, which talks about how we are sexually immature, or how we are just sexually desentizized, maybe it’s both. We are coming to an age, though not to be confused with the millenium where our awkwardness and our desire to experience more, are on a collision course, towards sexual decay. Or worse yet a dangerous level of sexual frustration which will consume us in ignorance. This is the sad thing. If we can’t admit or even express our fantasies, maybe more importantly experience our fantasies in some safe manner, are we hurting ourselves. Of course our babylonian direction to be excited and turned on by new shit is also hard. Some would say you’re a sick bastard to want to watch two hot chicks get it on, while you either a. participate or b. just masturabe. Or that you if you want to fantazize while reading pieces about a son seducing his mother you are also a sick bastard, some people do this though and safely, some do it through role play or masturbation and there fantasies are safely lived out and life goes on. Some people live there fantasies out in real life and depending on the state of consenual agreement on there partners, this is not so good. But I would argue that many of these people, are driven and pushed out of sexual frustration, frustration, that originated with healthy sexual needs. If anything I’m starting to wonder if people don’t screw enough. This also leads into legal prostitution, most people are more then willing to pay, but society and laws are still hindering even looking at this process, to some degree. For the most part, I think we all dream of pleasant happy relationships, where sex is fairly regular, occasionaly different and sometimes kinky. Sadly, image in the media, our own sense of body image, our sense of expectation of what we should get-remember the beautiful babe behind the Vaseline lense, have made us all pretty damn picky. It’s not all about our high expectations of the beautiful babe, it’s also about our perception of how relationships should fulfill us. We are a frustrated, wistful lot, we are also horny and lonely, with an overabundance of feelings which continue to escalate towards odd and deviant delights. When all you do is fantasize, eventually your fantasizes become more and more like summer movies, the explosions and the thrills have to be bigger and bigger. We have come to live so deeply in fantasy worlds, that we no longer feel the need or even desire to deal with our real worlds. Porn has gone from pleasant occasional masturbatory images to a place where some take all of there sexual satisfaction and as long as that is the case we will continue to have sexual deviants and sexually maladjusted people. For the simple fact that masturbation and fantasy are healthy in conjunction with regular sexual gratification. Without real sex though, you have people who eventually decide they’ll take what has never been offered to them, so in this sense, some proponents would offer that even prostitution made legal would lead to the same result: Someone eventually taking what they want. On
a more positive ending note people are finding ways to meet each other
and express there sexual desires. if anything we have more people
openly talking about and dealing with there fantasies, this is is a good
thing. We knock our S&M and our fetishist’s but they’re usually
at home having a good time, while we lie in frustration in a world swollen
with every fantastical image imaginable and we’re still unhappy.
Sexually we’ve become reclusive thrill seekers, searching desperately for
another big turn on, to top the next, what can we expect other then people
who eventually snap and do horrible things, when really all they needed
